TNMC Year-End Campaign for Flash Flood Families in Nepal

The headlines may disappear—but the suffering does not.

Communities affected by the devastating flash floods along the Nepal–China border are facing a long road toward recovery. Families have lost loved ones, homes have been destroyed, roads and bridges have been washed away, and many people are struggling with displacement and access to adequate food.

Thirst No More Corporation (TNMC), in partnership with HTCDN, is committed to standing with these communities beyond the immediate crisis.

Our new goal is to raise $5,000 by December 31, 2026, focusing on two urgent priorities:

🏠 Rebuilding homes

🍚 Providing nutritious food

And we have already raised $258❗

Under the leadership of Raju Bhitrakoti, Executive Director of HTCDN and TNMC Coordinator for Nepal, assistance will be directed toward families in need, with progress updates shared with our supporters.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BENEFITTED ALREADY FROM OUR PREVIOUS CAMPAIGN:

When the Harvest Is Gone: Ram Kumari Kumal’s Story

Raju interviewing Ram Kumari

For families already living with limited resources, a flood can take away far more than property—it can take away the food and security they were depending on for the months ahead.

Ram Kumari Kumal lives with her husband and children in a family of five. Her husband suffers from a heart condition that prevents him from working, leaving Ram Kumari to do what work she can while her children attend school.

When heavy rains and flooding came, her family was hit especially hard.

“My house is flooded,” Ram Kumari shared. “My rice field got damaged by the flood as well. Last year, we did not have a good harvest, and this year too, the harvest is gone.”

For a family depending on their crops, losing another harvest creates an immediate need for something as basic as food.

When asked whether receiving food supplies would help her family, Ram Kumari simply answered, “Yes.”

And when asked how she felt about receiving assistance, her gratitude was unmistakable:

“I am very happy to receive it. Thank you very much!”

Ram Kumari’s story reminds us that behind every relief effort is a real person, a real family, and a real struggle. Food assistance is more than a package of supplies—it provides stability, dignity, and hope to families facing circumstances beyond their control.

When You Are Left to Face the Crisis Alone: Kabita Kumal’s Story

For Kabita Kumal, the hardship caused by heavy rains comes on top of an already difficult life.

Kabita is part of a family of four, but today she lives alone. Her husband left the family for another woman, while her son works away from home as a migrant worker and her daughter works at a hotel.

Kabita also struggles with a problem affecting her leg, limiting the amount of work she can do. When the heavy rains came, she was forced to move her belongings to protect what little she had.

Her greatest concern now is something very basic: having enough food to eat.

When asked whether food assistance would make a difference, Kabita explained:

“I have nothing to eat and my husband left me. I am alone, so it means a lot to me.”

When asked how she would feel about receiving the food supplies, her response was simple:

“Yes, I will be happy. Thank you!”

Kabita’s story reminds us why humanitarian assistance must reach beyond statistics. Behind every number is a person—someone facing hunger, isolation, physical limitations, and uncertainty about tomorrow.

When the Crops Are Gone: Pan Maya Kumal’s Story

Raju interviewing Pan Maya

Pan Maya Kumal lives with her family of four. Her husband is a mason, but during this season, work is unavailable. Without a steady source of income, the family already has very little to depend upon.

Then the rains and flooding came.

Although their home survived, their crops did not.

“Our house is okay, but the crops are damaged by the flood,” Pan Maya shared.

For a family already facing limited employment and financial uncertainty, the destruction of their crops means losing an important source of food and security.

When asked whether receiving food supplies would help her family, Pan Maya responded:

“Yes, it would be a great relief. We do not have much.”

And when asked how she would feel about receiving assistance, she simply said:

“Yes, I will be happy. Thank you.”

Gathering What She Can to Survive: Koshila Chepang’s Story

Sanju interviewing Koshila

“Yes, I will be.”

Her answers may be brief, but the need behind them speaks loudly.

For Koshila and other vulnerable families in Nepal, a package of food is not simply a donation. It can mean meals when there is little available, relief from the daily pressure of providing for a family, and reassurance that someone beyond their village cares about what they are experiencing.

YOUR GENEROSITY CAN PUT FOOD ON A FAMILY’S TABLE

Through Thirst No More Corporation (TNMC) and our partners in Nepal, we are working to place practical assistance directly into the hands of people who need it.

But we cannot do it alone.

Your donation can help purchase and distribute food supplies to

Please don’t simply read Koshila’s story and move on. Become part of her story.

A Little Farming, A Lot of Hope: Sajina’s Story

Sanju interviewing Sajina

In the village of Thakaldanda, Chitwan, Nepal, families often depend upon the land and what they can gather each day to meet their most basic needs.

Sajina is one of those individuals.

When asked how she makes a living, Sajina described a life built around simple, daily work:

“I do a little farming. Gathering fodder—that is it.”

There is no large business, steady paycheck, or financial safety net. What Sajina can grow and gather helps sustain her household. When resources are limited, even basic food assistance can make an enormous difference.

When asked whether receiving food supplies would support her family, Sajina answered simply:

“Yes, it would.”

And when asked how she felt about receiving this assistance, she responded:

“Yes, I am happy.”

Her words are few, but they represent something much greater—the relief that comes when someone struggling to provide realizes that others care.

A Simple Gift That Makes a Real Difference: Suk Maya’s Story

Sanju interviewing Suk Maya

In Thakaldanda, Chitwan, Nepal, Suk Maya lives a simple life, depending largely upon the land and the little farming she is able to do.

When asked what she does for a living, her answer was straightforward:

“I do a little farming.”

For families like Suk Maya’s, small-scale farming can be an important source of both food and livelihood. But when resources are limited, there is little room for unexpected hardship. A poor harvest, extreme weather, illness, or rising costs can quickly make providing enough food much more difficult.

That is why something as basic as food assistance can have such an immediate impact.

When Suk Maya was asked whether food supplies would support her family, she answered:

“Yes, it will.”

And when asked how she would feel about receiving the assistance, Suk Maya replied:

“Yes, I will be happy.”

Her response is simple, but it reminds us of something important: what may seem like a small act of generosity to us can mean much more to someone struggling to meet their everyday needs.
